Description:

Live Oak School District chose Aircon Energy to perform a comprehensive energy retrofit utilizing government code 4217 in 2005 at four of their campuses and Bus Barn area totaling 150,000 square feet. This process began with a desire on the part of the district to upgrade its antiquated building automation system. Through conversations with the district it was agreed that a comprehensive program that produced savings might be a vehicle to obtain a new automation system and solve other facilities problems without the need for a large capital outlay. The goal of this project was to offset the cost of these improvements from existing budgets with a focus on HVAC related systems. As part of the project Aircon replaced over 50 package heating and cooling units.

Working with the department of the State Architect, Aircon was able to implement a compliant project that set the district up for years of future growth.

Project Scope:

• Lighting, A lamp and ballast retrofit had been performed in selected buildings. The Gymnasium required a total redesign with motion sensing.
• Facility Automation throughout the district with a Delta Controls direct digital control system.
• Replacement of 53 existing air-conditioning units with High-efficiency units.
• Old natural gas boiler replaced with 2 hot water heaters.
• New natural gas heating system for the Gymnasium and locker room areas.
• Exhaust air system for the Bus Barn area
• Numerous other comfort and safety modifications
