Project Highlights

Leveraging $542,000 in available funds from Proposition 39 through the California Energy Commission, the Mammoth Unified School District selected Aircon Energy after conducting a rigorous RFQ process that followed California Code 4217 for procuring energy efficiency services.

Aircon Energy implemented 20 different energy efficiency measures in 4 buildings which included an elementary school, middle school, high school and district office.  The measures upgrading interior and exterior lighting to LED, replacing old furnaces with 95% high-efficiency units, replacing two 850 MBH and one 600 MBH boilers with high efficiency non-condensing boilers.   Finally, at the request of the district, a new district-wide control system was installed.  The new control system software was loaded on Mammoth USD’s virtual server system and utilizes the Districts existing WAN control and computers for EMS monitoring and control.

K-14 projects funded with Proposition 39 monies requires an energy savings guarantee from the ESCO.  For Mammoth Unified School District, the energy savings for this project measured after the first year were as follows:

Based on the final energy consumption analysis, this project resulted in savings much greater than expected. First year monetary savings were exceeded by roughly 100%. The first year kWh savings were exceeded by almost 112%. Finally, propane gas savings were exceeded by over 53%.
